Dubai is easier and Marrakech is more beautiful. That is the short version, and for a lot of families the easier option is the right one.
Where Dubai wins
Flights. Direct from every Indian city, three hours, several times a day. For a guest list concentrated in India that is a decisive advantage and it is the main reason Dubai has taken so much of this market.
Infrastructure. Indian catering, mandap builders, mehndi artists and dhol players are all local. Nothing is flown in. That removes a whole category of cost and risk.
Familiarity. A large resident Indian population means venues, suppliers and staff who have done hundreds of these and need no explanation.
Where Marrakech wins
The setting. Dubai's wedding venues are largely hotel ballrooms and beach resorts. Marrakech's are palaces and estates with courtyards, arches, zellige and gardens, which is the architecture Indian weddings were designed around.
Distinctiveness. A Dubai wedding looks like other Dubai weddings. That matters to some families and not at all to others, and it is worth being honest about which you are.
Europe. For a guest list weighted to the UK and Europe, Marrakech is three to four hours rather than seven.
The honest answer
If most of your guests are flying from India, and you want the least friction, Dubai is probably the right choice and we will say so.
If your family is spread across London, the Gulf and India, or if the look of the thing matters as much as the logistics, Marrakech is the better room.
