The budget for an Indian wedding in Marrakech is set by three things: how many people sit down to dinner, how many days the programme runs, and how much of the week has to be flown in. Venue hire is rarely the largest line. Food and production usually are, and both scale with the guest count rather than with the property.
Guests times days, before anything else
Three hundred guests over four days and six hundred over four days are not the same wedding with a longer table. They are different venues, different kitchens, different transfer fleets and different build crews. The number of people is the most expensive decision in the project and it is usually made before anyone has seen a venue.
The second is the number of days. An extra day is not a fifth of the budget. It is another night of rooms, another day of staffing and of feeding everybody including the suppliers, and usually another build and strike. It is the easiest line to add late and the hardest to take out once family have booked flights around it.
Where the money goes, in order
For a wedding of this size the order is stable, and it is not the order most families expect.
Families arriving from London or Mumbai assume venue hire leads, and it rarely does. A palace that holds eight hundred can cost less for the week than the temporary kitchens, power, staging, sound and flowers that go into it.

The lines that exist because it is Marrakech
Indian chefs and catering teams are flown in, which means their flights, their accommodation and their working days, not only their food cost. The same is true of dhol players and of any artist booked out of India.
Above roughly four hundred covers most venues here bring in temporary kitchen units and additional power. That is a real line, and it is the one most often missing from an early quote, surfacing in month seven when the catering plan is finally signed.
Decor shipped from India takes six to eight weeks with customs and generally costs more than building the same thing here, so most of it is built in Marrakech. Families with a particular designer ship anyway, which is a decision with a number attached rather than a surprise.
None of these are surcharges. They are the reason the week runs. They are also the lines that a quote written for a wedding at home will not contain.
What the season does to it
After guest count, the calendar moves the number more than anything else, and the swing is wide enough to change what the week can be rather than only what it costs.

What else moves it
Service style. Plated service for eight hundred needs roughly one server for every ten guests and a kitchen that can plate at that rate. Stations need fewer staff and more floor.
And how much happens on each day. Two events in one day is two setups, two catering runs and two crews, which is why a four day programme carrying six events can cost more than a five day programme carrying five. If the muhurat falls in the middle of the night, you are also paying for overnight staffing, and that is a line nobody quotes for until it is asked about.
The lines families miss
Meals for suppliers and staff, four days running. On a wedding of this size that is a catering line of its own.
Transfers between events rather than only the airport runs. Three hundred people moved four times a day is a fleet and a team, and it is priced by the movement, not by the trip.
The last morning. A late checkout across a block booking costs very little and is the difference between a calm departure and four hundred people sitting in a lobby with their luggage.
Overtime past a noise curfew, duty on anything shipped, and a contingency line that is held at the start and not spent in month three.
